Director Chris Weitz and others involved in the production of New Moon gave a press conference in Montepulciano, Italy yesterday. Also present were producers Bill Bannerman and Wyck Godffrey as well as the Mayor of Montepulciano. TwilightItalia was there and has this to report as to what they said–
“We love both of Volterra and Montepulciano, as well as throughout Tuscany. Of course the book by Stephenie Meyer talks about Volterra, but as always in the cinema, we had to take into account some logistical needs that we did try different location also ended up deciding to run in Montepulciano. We hope to be able to really do justice to both Volterra that in Montepulciano “
As to why Chris Weitz chose Montepulciano over Volterra,
Chris Weitz said that he opted for a need for symmetry and photography. It also took the occasion to say that both cities are beautiful. He added that if there is someone to “blame” for this decision then that’s him because he was a very strong wish of the square instead of Montepulciano to Volterra. And I tell you my impression when he spoke you could see clearly that he has done a very professional choice based on that of which in his view, the film needed to make up.
TwilightItalia says they’ll have the full video later this week. You can view more of their report at the machine translated version of the original page.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will be the two hottest stars at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards.
All ya gotta do is look at the seating chart to know that. I got a peek earlier today.
Pattz and Stewart are, of course, sittin' next to each other in the front row. Expect them to get plenty of camera time during the whole shebang, which will be telecast live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City.
Who are their plus-ones?
MTV reps say they haven't been told.
Taylor Lautner is a couple of rows behind them. Is Selena Gomez next to him? Another unknown. Off to the side and few rows back are other Twilighters like Kellan Lutz and Cam Gigandet.
Last week, we dropped a bombshell of OME proportions when we announced that the cast of "New Moon" will be presenting exclusive footage from their upcoming "Twilight" sequel during the MTV Movie Awards. Now we can reveal that the never-before-seen video that Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will be introducing on Sunday's live show is the movie's first trailer.
The stars will present the premiere of the "New Moon" trailer on the Movie Awards, airing at 9:00 pm ET on Sunday. Then at 10:45 p.m., the high-definition video will debut online. To make sure you don't miss the premiere, snag our Movie Awards countdown clock below — when the trailer makes its online debut, it will shapeshift into a video player!
(How pumped are you for the "New Moon" trailer? Share your video reactions!)
This year, "Twilight" leads all other films at the Movie Awards with seven nominations, including nods for Breakthrough Performance Male nods for Pattinson and Lautner, and Best Performance Female for Stewart. Cam Gigandet, who plays evil vampire James in the movie, has been campaigning heavily (with the help of FunnyOrDie.com) to win Best Fight for his battle with Pattinson. Voting in the Best Movie category, for which "Twilight" is also nominated, will stay open until the end of the live telecast.
Joining the "Twilight" trio will be an all-star group of Hollywood presenters, including Denzel Washington, Will Ferrell, Lil Wayne, Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock, Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Abigail Breslin, Shia LaBeouf, Leighton Meester, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Sienna Miller and Channing Tatum.
In addition to this cavalcade of celebrity presenters, the Movie Awards will feature musical performances by Eminem, who will perform music from his new album, Relapse, and Kings of Leon, who will perform their hit "Use Somebody."
In coordination with the New Moon trailer premiere during the MTV Movie Awards happening this Sunday evening on TV during the awards ceremony that begins at 9pm EST, you’ll also be able to catch the trailer on Myspace starting at 7:45PST/10:45pm EST. This Sunday certainly promises to end May with a bang!
Oh, and as we retweeted on Twitter yesterday, ET is promising new scenes from New Moon tonight on their television show. Hopefully, it’s something substantial!
It's getting hot on the set of New Moon in Italy!
As the director yells "action", our favorite hunky vampire -- a shirtless Robert Pattinson -- waits as co-star Kristen Stewart jumps into his arms.
When the scene is wrapped, you can hear the crowd of Twilight fans -- lucky enough to be in Montepulciano, Italy -- erupt in cheers.
The rest of them left on Friday – Taylor Lautner for Los Angeles, and director Chris Weitz along with Kristen Stewart and Ashley Greene to Italy for 4 days of filming. As you can see, Ashley walked into a garbage can thanks to the brainiac leading her to the gate.
According to the fine folks over at TwilightersItalia, Robert Pattinson arrived in Rome at the Fiumicino Airport on his way to Montepulciano at 12:30pm local time, which works out to 6:30am EST. He’s already made his way to Tuscany.
In other news from Montepulciano, the new fountain was given a trial run with water to prep for shooting the film. TwilightersItalia says–
Also today, they’re shooting in the centre of the city, our friends told us that the Porsche was actually there this morning. With a bit of luck we’ll have some pictures to share of that too later.

I look up to see him walking in, in his fitted tux, no tie, a couple of buttons on his shirt undone, looking absolutely delicious. He's walking like he's on a runway, a far cry from his usual "please don't look at me" gait with slumped shoulders and a ducked head. Methinks that every once in a while, Mr. Pattinson enjoys kicking the wardrobe up a notch - and I'm not complaining.
I should probably explain that I'm a fan. A very enthusiastic RPattz fan. While Lainey swears that outwardly I remained cool, I felt my heart rate triple at that moment. And suddenly I was wide awake. He took a seat at a table opposite us, giving me a close and unrestricted view of him and, to quote Lainey, sending my loins into quiveration mode.
So did I shamelessly ogle him for the next two hours? You bet your sweet ass I did!
The boy is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. He chain smokes like crazy, and while I generally find that a disgusting habit, he looks ridiculously sexy doing it. In fact, he looked picture perfect every single time I glanced over at him. He was chatting animatedly with his manager and his agent, laughing and smiling, looking like a guy who was loving his life.
At one point I was jolted out of my lust-induced haze by Lainey who asked me if I was going to, and I quote, "man up and bring it?" I could only reply to her smug little challenge with a death glare because honestly, short of flashing him my boob, what was I supposed to do? The Du Cap is definitely not the place to approach your favourite star like a raging fanatic. And I'm guessing they wouldn't take too kindly to a flasher either.
Eventually, Emile Hirsch walked in with his girlfriend and another good looking girl. They greeted Rob and he - get this - looked shy and stared down alternately at the table or at his management team. It was pretty cute actually. What I didn't find cute was the way Emile greeted Rob - it was a condescending "heyyyyy buddyyyyyyy" and then he proceeded to poach one of Rob's smokes. It was interesting to observe the difference between these two young actors. Emile walked in muttering something about kicking someone's ass and then loudly gave his pointed opinions on various topics. Rob conversed with him but wasn't nearly as biting or cocky. I'm not saying he doesn't have an edge - I overheard him make some sarcastic remarks and he does love dropping the F-bomb (with that British accent - HOT!) , but overall, he comes across as a much nicer guy.
One of director Weitz's creative challenges is Edward's long absence in the novel: ''Rob was the first guy to say to me, 'You know, you don't really need to have too much of me in this film.' I don't want him too present, so his apparition will be a subtle, flitting effect — clearly a reflection of Bella's will and desire to see him.''
''I'm telling Bella not to be fearful of death. It's inevitable and painless,'' says Edi Gathegi, who returns in New Moon as the somewhat mysterious vampire Laurent, in this EW exclusive photo. ''He was bad in Twilight, but still had some compassion. Let's just say he's not conflicted anymore.''
Happy birthday, Bella! In this EW exclusive photo, the movie's newly 18-year-old heroine has been thrown against a rose-covered table by her beloved, Edward. Readers will know his intentions were honorable: He was trying to protect Bella (and her paper cut!) from the vampire Jasper. ''The whole cast is reading the book and wanting to get it right,'' says Weitz (center, with Stewart, assistant director Mike Topoozian, and makeup artist Robin Mathews). ''They want to deliver on the promise these books make to the readers.''
Each one of them was clad in red. Hoods, robes, t-shirt, caps…everything was red! They couldn’t really say anyhing because the producers have told them that if they were caught they would be expelled from the set and nobody wants to lose the chance to be in the movie.
It’s said that this afternoon there was a little commotion and they think Robert Pattinson was there, but nobody would say that plainly. There are no pictures of him at the airport because he went out through a side exit allowed to the airport staff only.
Today the porsche crew finished working and, from what we understood, tomorrow Robert Pattinson himself will shoot some scene, maybe something related to Edward’s desperation before the Volturi’s verdict.
It won’t be Kristen Stewart to jump in the fountain but her stunt double, an Italian girl. Right now, Alan Cappelli, the stunt double for Robert Pattinson is waiting in his car to be called to set. We don’t know though what scene they’ll shoot.
How much is a kiss with Rob Pattinson worth? Keep reading and watch our newly added video to find out!
The vampy leading man was auctioned off today in Cannes for the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS 2009 Cocktail Party. The bidding got so high that Pattinson was split between two bidders, who each paid $20,000 for the chance to meet, greet and win a kiss on the cheek from the 'Twilight' idol. Watch the video to see Harvey Weinstein introduce a blushing Rob. Movie mogul Harvey explains that all three of his young daughters want to marry the actor!
They’re preparing for Saint Marcus day! Today a pickup loaded with red flags and ensigns was spotted in the main square, piazza grande.
A few hours later all over the front of the cityhall there were those flags pinned.
Meanwhile the fountain is now almost finished and today it was painted with
waterproof so now it seems a little more whitish!
Pattinson has solidified his new super celebrity status as Summit successfully maneuvered their golden boy through Cannes this week culminating on the carpet last night at Inglourious Bastards where he received a very, very enthusiastic welcome. Some girl collapsed, fell to her knees, when his image was beamed up on the big screen. She was young though. Forgiveable.
Anyway, here’s Pattinson arriving last night, a significant improvement from carpets past when I’ve seen him all open mouthed inviting flies. On this night, the amount of closed mouth time greatly exceeded the amount of open mouthed time. Wonder if he’s practising. Because Laura has a bit of a crush on him, and she noticed it immediately. That he seemed to catch himself mouth wide open and remind himself to close it again quickly so that there are now fewer photos of his open mouth and this is encouraging and you twi-hards should be very proud of him: when a young star can follow instruction, show improvement, it’s a very good sign. He looked great. Very, very handsome. And there appears to be a new pout that is replacing the gaping. Excellent. Click here to read more
CANNES -- Robert Pattinson, who shot to stardom in "Twilight" and is now filming the second and third movies in the franchise, confirmed Tuesday in Cannes that there will be a fourth installment of the vampire franchise based on the book "Breaking Dawn."
Pattinson told The Hollywood Reporter that he is committed to starring in the final outing to date but doesn't know when backers Summit Entertainment will begin production because of the actor's jam-packed shooting schedule.
Fans have been hoping for a movie version of the fourth novel from Stephenie Meyer's best-sellers, so Pattinson's commitment is the biggest fillip yet. The fourth book (caution -- spoiler alert) centers on Bella and Edward's marriage and her subsequent pregnancy.
Dropping in on the Croisette on the way to shooting the final four days of "New Moon" in Italy on Friday, Pattinson said he is heading back to Vancouver in October to finish up "Twilight: Eclipse," the third installment. In between, the British actor, who turned 23 last week, plans to star in "Remember Me," which Summit also is producing.
The script adaptation for "New Moon" beefs up his character's role considerably -- in the book, Edward is a "a voice in Bella's head," he said.
Said Pattinson, laughing: "You're playing a figment in Bella's imagination so I was trying to do it in a 2-D way. I hope it doesn't translate onscreen as being boring." The hardworking actor is taking a few days off after completing "New Moon" before the start of the "Remember Me" shoot. He plans three days off after an eight-week planned shoot for "Remember Me" before finishing "Eclipse" before October.
First - Kirsten Stewart in Vancouver on Monday, day after the New Moon wrap party, where my sources say she was smoking some BC bud, on her way in and out of a hair appointment looking like it was a rough night. Or a great night. Pretty much what Laura and I look like now. Except for us it’s been 4 nights in a row. Vodka face bloat, not cute.
Kristen is back at work on set today shooting Bella sad and depressed at home scenes.
Kristen was staying at a different hotel from Pattinson for most of the shoot. It’s a popular hotel for celebrities in Vancouver but it’s wide open access. Pattinson’s hotel has several exits and he would also get picked up in an underground parkade, far from the stalkers. Around the time of the New Moon cast party however, Stewart switched to Pattinson’s, supposedly so that she could get away from the twi-hards. You twi-hards are free to draw your own other conclusions.
Over in Cannes, this morning, Robert Pattinson, after a boozy night on Paul Allen’s boat, posed for a photo call on the beach before international interviews all day. Laura was working at the Grand and saw him going from outlet to outlet, running his hands through his hair, dutifully promoting Twilight/New Moon. Am told he seemed overwhelmed by the absurdity of the situation – on a dock, by himself, photographers calling out. It was early, I was yet again rushing to the Palais to file, and once the young French tourists heard he was there, it was a hormone surge you could feel from miles away.
Had a colleague text me, she was trying to make her way to the pavilion while it was all going down and her words were:
Get these high school musicals out of my f-cking way!
Had to laugh.
Last night, am told Pattinson was happily enjoying the attention of several euro social climbers on the yacht, and had a moment with Orlando Bloom, no doubt exchanging tips. It was like a pretty-off. A pretty explosion on the cote d’azur. Pattinson was enjoying the open bar. Liberally. As he should. This is Cannes, after all.
